This
ultra-lightweight system helps to eliminate heat loss and keeps your sleeping bag
insulation dry adding extra warmth and comfort during cold or damp nights. It also
protects your bag from the elements and exterior wear and tear providing you many extra
years of use from your bag. Two bivy sack designs to choose from. [View 2 using an Ultrex
top and coated taffeta tub including noseeum, thread, hook & loop, zippers &
pattern costs approx. $59 to make].
Design
#1: Basic design that minimizes weight and assembly time. Hook and loop closure and
rainflaps along the top of the hood opening keeps the elements out. Simply pulling back
the hood accesses optional built-in no-see-um netting.
Design
#2: Uniquely designed hood has 2 reversible pull zippers along each side so the hood
can be pulled back when it is not needed. Rainflaps and hook and loop hood closure keeps
the elements out. Simply pulling back the hood accesses optional built-in no-see-um
netting
Suggested
fabrics: Top and Hood- waterproof/breathable (Stormshield,
Gore-Tex, Extreme). Bottom Tub- lightweight, waterproof (coated taffeta, ripstop,
oxford). Nettting- No-see-um
Depending on fabric selection the completed project weights approximately 16 oz.
Due to each
designs size, exact measurements and
instructions for layout are given rather than a pattern.

| Bilgy Light Weight Tarp Shelters
Roomy, sturdy, and totally protective against bugs and blowing rain.
By
Bill Gurwell, bgurwell@hotmail.com June 2004

Tarp Shelter has a large
silnylon Tarp attached to a no-see-um Shelter with silnylon bathtub floor and end flaps to
completely cover and protect both ends of the Shelter from wind and rain. Pictured above,
the no-see-um door and the silnylon door flap are rolled up and secured (velcroed) to the
floor. One or both sides can be lowered to the ground to shed wind. Inside pocket,
clothesline & light hanger.
- Large Tarp with sit-up height, and
awning for cooking and wet gear storage. One-piece design keeps Shelter dry during setup
and takedown in the rain.
- Mosquito Shelter with bathtub floor
and large, zippered door. Flaps at both door and foot stop wind and rain. Tub floor
rejects flowing groundwater.
- Excellent, adjustable ventilation; no
sidewall or end condensation, ever.
- Preset-adjustable lines, easy setup
and fast takedown.
